April to June 2026
Where the money went, to the dollar.
A church asks people with little to give some of it. The least it owes them is an itemised account, on the internet, every quarter, without being asked. The accounts are read out at the members' meeting in July and pinned inside the porch.
In
$2,328,000 in the quarter. A quarter of everything this building takes now comes from groups renting rooms rather than from the congregation, which is the largest single change here since 1961.
Out
$1,948,000 spent, against $2,328,000 in.
What each line actually is
Building. Electricity, water, insurance, the caretaker's materials and the roof repair over the upper room. Electricity alone was $58,000 a month this quarter, against $31,000 in 2022, and that rise is the reason hall rates moved in September for the first time in four years.
Help given out. The food bank, school fees, two funerals, and cash to eleven households. No part of it went on administration, because there is none: the same four people who cook do the buying.
Two part-time wages. The caretaker three days a week and the office two mornings. Neither the minister nor anyone else at the front is paid by this church.
Music. Strings, one repair to the organ, and the Thursday practice's sheet music.
What is held back
$380,000 is held against the next roof, because the last one came down with three weeks' warning and we do not intend to ask for that money in a hurry again.
If you want to check it
The full accounts, with receipts, are read at the members' meeting in July and pinned inside the porch for the rest of the year. Anyone may look, whether or not they gave anything and whether or not they come here.
